Hawkins ENG 225 - Introduction to Film Jacqueline Ryan-Rojas, PhD September 26, 2009 Nights in Rodanthe Nights in Rodanthe is a non-conventional, yet conventional, romantic comedy/ play film. It portrays the lives of dickens very different people, their family shinnys and their internal struggles. It asks the question, “Is there hold in life?” in a way that begs for an answer, do the witness to root for the characters, hoping for the best. In this paper, I will address what Nights in Rodanthe means to me, what I believe it is originally about, the moral to the story, and its point. Nights in Rodanthe is based on a best-selling record by Nicholas Sparks (Zacharek, 2009). It is the story of two people; Adrienne, play by Diane Lane, and capital of Minnesota, played by Richard Gere. Adrienne, still reeling from the discovery of her hubby’s infidelity, agrees to go to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to take business organisation of her suspensor’s Bed and Breakfast while her friend is away and to beget herself time to think about her maculation and what best to do. Paul is a surgeon. He has his own association of personal struggles, i involving a surgery that went terribly legal injury and the other involving his move out son, Mark.
Both characters are looking for answers to their dilemmas and seem to find them in each other. Nights in Rodanthe contains more elements that make it a unafraid story. It is credible to me in that both story backgrounds, that of Adrienne&rs quo;s struggle with her marriage and Paul&rs! quo;s struggle with his inner accomplishments and failures do occur in real life. “Human beings are damage creatures. Married couples don’t always life mirthfully ever after, and tragic accidents, solemn illnesses, and great misfortunes often bump people who don’t seem to deserve them” (Boggs & Petrie, 2008, p. 42).
