The Islamic Ethical Principles Of Euthanasia Essay

HOW DOES ISLAM RESPOND TO EUTHANASIA? INTRODUCTION The objective of my inquiry is to find and investigate the Islamic ethical principles of the act of euthanasia, to see how Islam responds to euthanasia. The Islamic ethical principles that this investigation addresses includes the sanctity of human life and how only Allah has the right to decide the length of our lives, in relation to evidence given by the authentic Islamic sources of Quran, Hadith (sayings of the Prophet [Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him]), and opinions of both Islamic scholars and medical experts. These sources have been used to inform and validate my research. The research reveals that the Islamic perspective of euthanasia is a negative one, as it is completely forbidden by the laws of Islam. To assist my research, a number of sources have been used such as verses from the Quran, hadiths, and articles on Islamic medical ethics. I have used multiple sources because this offers a reinforcement of the perspectives presented when addressing each ethical princi ple of euthanasia. EUTHANASIA Euthanasia has been a major issue and subject of intense ethical debates throughout the course of its existence. It has been a great issue in the perspective of human rights, as it affects the legal, ethical, and medical issues regarding the patients and health-care providers involved.
